Helping You Heal What Still Lives in the Body
A gentle, research-backed approach to processing trauma, anxiety, and distress—without having to relive it all.
What is EMDR therapy?
Trauma isn’t just stored in your memories—it’s stored in your body and nervous system. That’s why you might know you’re safe now, but still feel anxious, on edge, or stuck in old patterns. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based therapy that helps your brain reprocess distressing memories so they no longer feel as triggering or overwhelming. You can think of trauma like a knot in the nervous system. EMDR helps gently untangle that knot—so you can feel more calm, clear, and grounded. EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (like eye movements, tapping, or sound) to help your brain do what it couldn’t do during the trauma: fully process the experience and move forward.
EMDR therapy can help you find relief and feel calm in your body and mind.
-
EMDR is especially helpful for:
Childhood trauma or emotional neglect
Birth trauma or pregnancy loss
Medical trauma or painful procedures
Sexual trauma or abuse
PTSD and complex trauma
Anxiety, panic, and chronic stress
Grief or unresolved loss
-
EMDR helps heal trauma at the root by working with your body’s natural ability to process and resolve past experiences.
The process includes:
History + Assessment: Understanding what feels stuck or unresolved.
Preparation + Resourcing: Learning calming tools and grounding techniques.
Reprocessing: Using bilateral stimulation to shift how memories are stored in your brain and body.
Integration: Noticing new insights, relief, and emotional clarity as the memories lose their emotional charge.
You’re fully awake and in control throughout. You don’t have to share more than you want to, and we’ll move at your pace.
-
Starting EMDR may feel like a big step, especially if past experiences have felt too heavy to face. You don’t need to have all the answers to begin.
Here’s what working together typically looks like:
Safety + Connection: We’ll build a supportive relationship so you feel grounded and resourced.
Preparation: Before we process trauma, we focus on building internal tools that help you regulate.
Reprocessing: When you’re ready, we’ll identify key memories or beliefs and begin the EMDR process using gentle, guided techniques.
Reflection + Integration: As things shift, we’ll track your progress and help you integrate the changes in your daily life.

Sleep more peacefully and restfully
Heal from trauma without reliving every detail
Release shame, guilt, or self-blame
Reconnect with your body and emotions
Respond to life with more clarity and confidence
Whether you’re healing from a single traumatic event or years of complex trauma, EMDR can create space for deep, lasting change.

EMDR Therapy for Birth Trauma, Pregnancy Loss, and Parenthood
If your trauma is connected to fertility, pregnancy, birth, or postpartum, EMDR can be especially helpful. These experiences often get minimized or overlooked, even though they carry deep emotional weight.
As a therapist specializing in perinatal mental health, I bring both clinical knowledge and personal empathy to our work. EMDR can help you process what happened—and create space for healing, clarity, and meaning in your parenting journey.

If you’re ready to feel more like yourself again—more grounded, less reactive, and more at ease—EMDR therapy can help.

Everyone’s process is different. Some people notice changes within a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term work. We’ll tailor the pacing to your needs.
-
Yes. I offer virtual EMDR sessions across Kentucky. Many clients find online sessions just as effective as in-person work.
-
Yes. EMDR isn’t just for major traumatic events—it’s also helpful for what we call “little t” traumas: moments that felt overwhelming, shaming, or unsafe, even if they wouldn’t be considered traumatic by others. If something is still affecting you, it matters—and EMDR can help you process and move through it.
-
Not at all. While EMDR is well-known for treating PTSD, it’s also effective for anxiety, panic, low self-esteem, phobias, chronic stress, grief, birth trauma, and more. You don’t need a PTSD diagnosis to benefit from EMDR.
-
That’s okay. You don’t need to have it all figured out before starting therapy. Part of our work together is gently uncovering where the distress is coming from—without forcing anything. EMDR can help even if the memories feel blurry or disconnected.
